About this property

Welcome to Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District

Located at 400 Arch St in Philadelphia’s Historic District, Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District offers relaxed lodging with straightforward amenities suited for both business and leisure travelers. The property features a seasonal rooftop pool, a fitness center, and a business center, alongside conveniences such as free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and a smoke-free environment. Paid parking is available nearby, though the hotel itself does not provide an airport shuttle.

Guests can enjoy contemporary dining and drinks at Coins Eatery and the hotel bar, though several reviews note mixed experiences with the restaurant’s service. Rooms tend to be spacious and comfortable, with some guests appreciating the friendly and attentive staff who help create a welcoming atmosphere. However, occasional maintenance quirks and room limitations have been reported, reflecting a somewhat dated setting rather than a modern or upscale one.

The hotel’s location is a noted advantage, situated within walking distance of iconic sites like Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Its placement in the historic area, surrounded by museums and popular restaurants, makes it especially practical for visitors interested in exploring American history and culture. Accessibility is convenient, with Philadelphia International Airport roughly a 17-minute drive away.

Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District primarily suits travelers seeking a central base in Old City with practical amenities and easy access to major attractions. The property appeals to visitors who value location and comfort over luxury, making it a reasonable choice despite some varying guest experiences. Families and business travelers should find the services accommodating, while those prioritizing contemporary facilities might consider nearby alternatives.

We had a great stay thanks to the amazing front desk staff who made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms are big, clean, and very comfortable, and the location is perfect—close to almost everything. Housekeeping isn’t available daily for the entire stay, but requesting items like towels was easy and never an issue. Our only disappointment was Coin Restaurant in the lobby, where the service felt unwelcoming. We recommend management review the restaurant experience, as it doesn’t reflect the hotel’s high standards. Thank you, Wyndham Historic District Philadelphia—we will definitely return!

I had a good time during my stay here. I came here for a vacation and as well as continuing my fitness journey from home. They have lots of recommendations for places to visit within walking distance. I didn't have to worry much about having a vehicle but I also noticed a few amenities didn't apply to me during the trip. This is very close to many historic spots like Independence Hall, The Liberty Bell, and other places all within walking distance. Thank you!

I had a wonderful experience at the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District. As I was relocating to the city, I booked an extended stay and appreciated the reasonable rates, large rooms, and convenient location near Independence Mall — within easy walking distance of many historic sites and attractions. The staff was consistently attentive and helpful, which made settling into a new city much easier. I especially enjoyed visiting Coins Eatery, the hotel restaurant, where Monica, my server, and Mary, the bartender, were incredibly friendly, efficient, and welcoming, making me feel right at home. Overall, it was a comfortable and convenient place to stay while getting established in Philadelphia, and I’m grateful for the hospitality I experienced there.

10/3/25 first time here, for one night. After reading a bunch of reviews that were one star, I got a bit nervous. But this place definitely surprised me in a good way. The front desk folks were nice and friendly. Gave me all good info on check in. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I had a courtyard view RM 747. Not much outside noise except the air handlers below. The room phone didn't work. The WC is on the small side but the water pressure was good. I walked around the corner for Starbucks in the morning. Parking garage is fine $40/night. Spaces are a bit tight. This hotel is close to the historic sites and plenty of places to eat. It's a good spot. I would stay here again.

I was a little nervous reading the reviews. I originally picked the hotel because of how close it was to where we were going. We were in town to see the trans Siberian orchestra. The fact that there was a parking garage was awesome and felt safer but it’s still under construction. Still it was fine. It’s 40 a night for parking. Room was decent. The microwave didn’t work. We thought the fridge didn’t work but figured out it was unplugged. Pillows are horrible. Unfortunately, most hotels use the same pillows so can’t hold that against them. We didn’t try the restaurant due to all the bad reviews. I noticed while looking at the reviews “ front desk girls” were always great. So before I left I wanted to catch the name of the young lady so proper kudos and credit could go to her. STEVIE “front desk girl” was amazing. Very accommodating and very polite. We asked for extra towels and she provided. We reported the microwave and there was no issue. We asked for 12 o’clock check out not an issue. She was very pleasant. Thank you so much ma’am ! She was not there when we left to say thank you. My girls thought the spinning door was so neat. lol. I love the fact that the doors are locked at a specific time and need key card to come in as well as the elevator. You don’t have to worry about someone getting to your room unless they are a guest. Felt safer

Incredible location in Old City that can’t be understated. Somewhat dated rooms with quirks and poor soundproofing which also can’t be understated but clean, comfortable, and overall very good value. Stayed two nights. Room highlights, comments, and quirks: had a deluxe king room. Slightly dated look (particularly the bathroom) but comfortable bed, spacious. No smart TV. Hot water was erratic in that the bathroom sink had hot water the first night but not the second, and the shower was only very hot the first night but only tepid on the second morning. Stayed on 4th floor facing street. Occasional road noise but fortunately did not disturb us too much. Unique issue for us: next door room blasted loud music, waking me and partner up at 2 am on first night. Notified hotel front desk who were friendly and immediately notified security and shut it down so I do appreciate it was taken care of promptly and professionally. I am semi sensitive to noise but it ended up being okay. Not absolutely perfect but still a decent hotel and again amazing location, close to attractions and transit.

Came here over the weekend from out of town for a trip with friends. The rooms were nice and spacious and clean. Nice location nearby some stores. The best part of our stay though was our bartender Mary B! She was amazing and treated all of us like VIPs. We fell in love with one of her creations, Cupid Kiss and she made sure we all had our fill! Was super kind the whole time (despite there being some bad apples at the bar). Honestly I would come back again just to see Mary and have more of her amazing drinks! (Hope to see you again Mary!)

I stayed for two nights with my partner in the fall; the hotel was perfectly located but what a special highlight was the service. In the first night, the room was chilly with a heater that didn't blow hot air. However, the bump in our visit meant that we were able to meet a gem in the maintenance staff, Rome. He worked assiduously to fix the issue and showed investment in making sure we had a new room, kindly checking in on us when we crossed paths in the lobby. Our second night was warm and toasty, and we've reminisced about Rome's care and attention in the proceeding months. Rome was emblematic of a wider staff that helped us with all our needs, including helping us find glasses left in the room. The staff at the hotel, led by Rome, ensure that those who stay will be well-taken care of. We will definitely stay the next time we're in PHL! Thanks to Rome and the team!
